Map, and House names

Last night I had the distinct pleasure of being a part of the HBO premiere party for the third season of one of my favorite shows, Game of Thrones.  When asked to be one of four artists doing live calligraphy as part of the atmosphere, my inner fan-girl was doing flips. Costumes? Wigs? Jon Snow? Yes!

The third season premiered at the famed Chinese Theater on Hollywood Boulevard, followed by a rollicking party at the Hotel Roosevelt, complete with stilt walking, leather clad giants, belly dancers, soothsayers, archery exhibitions, and of course calligraphers. Every detail was carefully planned and beautifully executed, from the wooden lanterns strung from the ceiling to the parchment paper maps that were to be calligraphed.

Thanks to the talented forces of Fire Groove, my friend (and fellow calligrapher) Jillian and I were welcomed into the merry band of performers, and decked out in medieval elegance.
