Sweet Treat
Calligraphy is not just for paper. It can also be for cookies!
Some time ago, in the not too distant past, I teamed up with the incredible talent (Dan & Greg) of Modern Bite. Their cakes, cookies and other confections have a clean modern look that contrasts nicely with the quirkiness of my illustrations and calligraphy.
Modern Bite makes these incredibly rich, satisfyingly dense, shortbread cookies as the "card" or "tile" of the cookie. Then using edible ink (yes, edible ink!) they print on to edible paper and it is affixed using a thin layer of icing. YUM! The best part is, they can take any artwork or calligraphy and make it in to a cookie.
Individual tile place cards
Some brides choose to use them as favors, others as individual place cards with the guests name on each. C Magazine suggested that they did "double duty" serving as an escort card, and a pre-dinner snack. Martha Stewart Weddings "The Brides Guide" says "...the cookies tasted AMAZING; rich and buttery with the perfect texture...these treats would make fantastic parting gifts for your guests."
Wedding favor cookies with custom colors.
