Finding Marbles

When planning our trip to Italy last year, topping my "things to do list" was shopping. Specifically paper shopping, Florentine Marbled Paper shopping. While I already (admittedly) have more paper than any one woman should have, I couldn't help but be tempted by all of the Florentine delights that lay ahead. So I carefully plotted the map with some of Florence's best known paper purveyors.

Not only is there gorgeous traditional Florentine papers in these shops, but often they do the marbling there in the back of the shop. One of the chain shops, Il Papiro, even offers demonstrations to shoppers.

Not only is is beautiful, but it seems to have had a recent revival. I am seeing marbled papers, fabrics and products everywhere! Martha Stewart has created a collection of marble ideas for your wedding, Design*Sponge did a lovely history. Even Etsy jumped in with an easy tutorial for a marbled scarf.  To purchase, Paper Mojo has a great selection. Or make it one more excuse to head over to Firenze. Here is a round up of my recent favorite marble finds.

For a gorgeous roundup of styles take a look at the collection put together by BiblioOdyssey here.  And one more example of marble (not paper, but still fab) from our trip below.
